Detail

Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) is a very sparsely populated high-mountain area in the north of Pakistan. Its natural environment is usually described with superlatives – the longest glaciers outside of the polar region, home of the world’s second highest peak (K2) and four more eight-thousanders. GB is largely a high-mountain desert; geologically, it spreads over three high mountain systems: Himalaya, Karakorum and Hindukush. The society of GB is diverse in terms of language, religion and ethnicity.

Comprising 12 administrative districts, Gilgit-Baltistan boasts melodramatic and hypnotizing panoramas besides a rich history and culture. The people of Gilgit-Baltistan are very friendly, helpful and hospitable. It is worth mentioning here that Gilgit-Baltistan is the most visited region in Pakistan and is extremely popular among international tourists who mostly flock to the region during summer.

Gilgit-Baltistan is home to some of the most famous valleys, such as Hunza ValleySkardu Valley, Nagar Valley, Ghizer Valley and Astore Valley. Moreover, it embodies a large number of the world’s high mountains, including K2Nanga Parbat, Broad Peak, Rakaposhi, Gasherbrum I and Gasherbrum II. The good news is that you will get beautiful views of the famous Rakaposhi and Nanga Parbat from the comfort of your vehicle while travelling on the might Karakorum Highway (KKH). Gilgit-Baltistan is famous as “heaven on earth” and “Shangri-La.”
